Two Poems
By Cynthia Villanueva
Tomorrow
I'll do it tomorrow
or tomorrow I'll be happy,
or tomorrow will be different
always putting off later what is current.
But tomorrow may never come
that now is our last,
we do not know what life holds for us
that tomorrow we may never wake up.
Live life to the fullest
laugh, love, be happy, be merry,
we only pass this way but once
we may not have a second chance.
Express what's in your mind and heart
show your affection even though it hurts,
to those who broke your core and more
life is short, we don't want to regret anymore.
Live today, don't wait for tomorrow
we have nothing to borrow,
for we own our today, laughter and sorrow,
live, love, laugh do it all
don't wait for tomorrow!
The Blemish on My Rose
There it is, under the glorious sun
deep red, its beauty so proud
multiple layers of soft petals around
with green steady stem holding it up
and green leaves adorning it like a crown.
So perfect, sweet smell, intoxicating
like its beauty is never ending
but look closely there is a blemish
an ugly mark in its beauty a tarnish.
My life is like this rose
beautiful and full of vivid color,
because of your love for me
that I thought will be for eternity.
I never thought that your love
is nothing but an illusion,
like castle in the sand
with the wind and waves,
it was suddenly gone.
I was chasing a dream
that I thought was a pure love so clean,
I now realized you were just playing
with my emotions
that trusted you without doubting.
Like my rose, my love has that blemish
no longer the perfect love that I cherish,
but nothing in this world is perfect
only God can give us perfection
in life and in love with no condition.
The blemish in my rose I have to let go
look for what's beautiful and not the mark
that takes away the beauty that we admire
accept the blemish in love and in life.
The blemish in my rose is gone
and so is the pain in my heart ...
